Sir James C. Ross, the explorer . . .

. . . died at Aylesbury, England on the 3d of April, aged 62.  He was the discoverer of the North Magnetic Pole, and in 1839-43 reach 78 degrees 10 seconds south, the nearest approach to the South Pole ever made
